Welcome to New York

My best friend Megan's 22nd birthday is today and we were talking last week about what she wanted to do. She lives in the DC area so I mentioned a couple things and then she randomly texted me and said, "What about NYC?" We both own photography businesses and don't have much free time this time of year so she said we'd only be able to go for the day. I originally said that I didn't think it would be worth it. The drive is a little over 4 hours there so I knew we'd only have about nine hours in the city. But the next day I realized life is too short to say no. I've said this 100 times on my blog but life is about spontaneity and saying yes. So I said, "Okay fine, fine, let's go" and the planning began.

We ended up getting up at 5 AM to be on the road by 6. We made it to Staten Island by about 11 and we were on the ferry by 11:30, after driving all over looking for a parking deck. Haha. The ferry ride is free and is an awesome view of the Statue of Liberty and the city so I'm glad we did that!! Our first order of business was grabbing pizza at Pizza Suprema, which was voted the top place by a guy who spent over two years trying every pizza joint in NYC. I went to Lombardi's the first time I was in NYC so I was excited to try a new place. They were equally delicious.

After that we took ourselves on a fancy hotel tour. Haha! We visited three of the top hotels where movies have been filmed, famous people have stayed, and where we got stuck in an elevator because we didn't have a room key.... Oopsies. Don't worry, we managed to get out a few minutes later. The day was spent walking a LOT, eating the most interesting, strange-tasting ice cream at a place called Momofuku (it was cereal milk flavored....??) and venturing onto a rooftop bar with an awesome view of the city! It was such a fun day! I was sad to leave but I still haven't been to Top of the Rock so I have an excuse to go back soon, I'm sure! :) Enjoy some of the shots from yesterday! See photos from my other NYC trips here and here. Select images taken by Megan!!
