New York City

Sera mentioned briefly a few months ago that she might have an engagement session in New York City and would possibly be able to take me to assist. I put down the dates, figuring she'd probably take her family instead and wrote off the idea, knowing I didn't want to get my hopes up if it never happened. Well, a few weeks ago, she threw the idea out again but this time, it was more serious. She asked the couple if they'd mind and when they said they didn't, the plan was a go!! I was SO excited! I knew it would be a short trip and that I'd be working but I also knew I'd get to see a huge chunk of New York in a short amount of time!! Considering it was my first trip, I was SO glad I had the chance to go. We arrived to our little Airbnb apartment Thursday night, left to explore SoHo a bit (and eat Lombardi's Pizza), then came home, went right to bed, and woke up early the next morning to begin the most epic engagement session EVER! Haha! You think I'm kidding... We ended up shooting from morning until late that night, getting in as many iconic locations as possible for this couple. It was exhausting but I'm still trying to wrap my head around getting to go to NYC. It blows my mind that people live there and that some of my favorite shows are filmed there! SO COOL. When I passed Diane von Furstenburg's place, I thought about the many hours I spent watching the City. Favorite reality show ever. :) Haha. I'm so used to my little tiny town that seeing New York and all it had to offer was a bit of a shock. They say it's the city that never sleeps. It's true. I fell in love with New York more each day I was there and have decided I want to live there, at least for a couple years!! That city is so full of life and I'd never run out of places to photograph! I didn't a chance to shoot on my SLR at all this trip but I made sure to take lots of iPhone shots. :) Check it out.

  2. I've been looking into Airbnb for places to stay around the world. ;) It seems like it would be cooler than a hotel! Did you love it?!

    1. It was decent! The pull out couch we had to sleep on was not super comfortable and I could hear everything on the streets without earplugs. We also had to share a bathroom which was trickier than it sounds with showering and everything. But I would definitely do it again!!!

  5. How fun! My parents lived there before I was born and I definitely had some "culture shock" the times I've visited, but it's quite the memorable experience :) Lovely captures!
