Lindsay + Wil | Waynesboro, Virginia Engagement Photographer

Doing anything for the first time is scary but putting your mind to a task and proving to yourself you can succeed at something is such a thrill. I have wanted to do engagement portraits for a long time and my wish came true last week!

A couple weeks before Christmas I was asked by my Young Life leader's fiancee if I would be up for doing their engagement pictures. My heart stopped for a second because I knew this was the perfect opportunity! I was nervous but I'm definitely not one to pass up an opportunity to do something I love. So Lindsay and I passed around ideas and locations for the shoot and picked a day. I saw in the forecast that there was a chance of snow on the day we scheduled which worried me a bit but I prayed that whatever happened would work out.

Sure enough, the day that I was supposed to photograph Lindsay and Wil was the day it rained, snowed, sleeted, and precipitated basically everything under the sun (or clouds, haha) but I thought it was just snowing when I woke up that morning so I had some hope for a good day! Little did we know that it was sleeting pretty hard, which made it a challenge. We toughed it out for a while as we got soaking wet but then we gave up, knowing a different day would be better. We headed to Starbucks to warm ourselves up and after a cup of coffee, the weather calmed down. We laughed, joked about how we should have waited, and then decided there was no reason we couldn't finish the shoot.

So we went back to where we were shooting, trekked though the snow once again, and had so much fun! It was freezing cold and I made Lindsay and Wil do crazy things like sit in the snow but there's nothing better than a couple willing to do whatever because it makes for beautiful photos. I can't imagine if we hadn't gone back to finish the session. I'm so excited to say I completed my very first engagement shoot and I'm so honored to introduce to you Lindsay and Wil! What a great way to start off the new year!! Enjoy!
