Ever since I discovered wedding photography, I've been interested in it but when I realized that it wasn't just a studio thing but a job where you get to creatively capture a day for two people in love, I have wanted to do it professionally. The problem was that I didn't know who would be willing to take me under their wing and teach me about weddings. I have reached out to quite a few people in the past year but because wedding photographers stay very busy, it's hard to find someone.
Thankfully, Sera Petras is going to be letting me intern with her so I can't wait for that to get started!! But the funny thing was, I had contacted Lauren Rogers back in the summer and I heard from her the other day when I was meeting at Starbucks with Sera, actually. She said she had an opportunity for me to come along and assist her at a wedding in Staunton. I was a little scared at first because I didn't want to let her down but it literally was the perfect first wedding for me to shoot. It was laid back, small, and the bride and groom were so kind. I know I have a lot to learn but Lauren taught me a lot in just one day and I'm so thankful for that! Go check out her photography page!
Absolutely beautiful! :) So happy for you to have that opportunity. <3

You did a beautiful job and I appreciate all the help you gave me! Especially during group portraits, it would have been a challenge without that extra set of hands. I can't wait to see all the rest of your photos, I know Jillian and John are going to be thankful to have even more shots from their beautiful day. Thanks again and just let me know if you want to join me again sometime!

Oh these are lovely. The thing that intimidates me about being any sort of photographer is that people are relying on YOU (or, in that case, ME) to be the one to capture images of their day that are even prettier than the day itself was! I have so much more to learn about photography before I can even do that for my own life, haha. You are on track, though, to be an amazing wedding photographer. Congrats on your first wedding. :-)
ReplyDeleteOh I know!!! I have always worried about my pictures not measuring up to my standards or more importantly, the bride and groom's standards! But it's a learning process and if you love it, you're going to improve!
DeleteMeredith, words cannot tell you how very impressed I am with these photos - and all that I have seen on the blog. Even a friend of mine has been looking and says that she sees a certain style in your pics. You will be successful. You are ahead of the pack in having a passion to follow at such a young age. I love you sweetie and we all believe in you!
