Hannah | Afton, Virginia Senior Portrait Photographer

It's crazy how time flies. Hannah's only a year younger than me but I remember so well when I was starting my sophomore year and the class of 2013 started their freshman year. Let me tell you, that feels like just yesterday! But now Hannah's about to begin her senior year and she was smart to get her pictures done early.

We went up to Swannanoa (for those of you who don't know, it's an old, giant mansion that no one lives in) on Monday around 6 p.m. and the temperatures had cooled down, the lighting was perfect, and it was just a beautiful day. It was so refreshing to shoot there. I hadn't done pictures at Swannanoa in a couple years so seeing as there were some trees down and some long grass that wasn't there the last time I went, I got excited!

Hannah was so fun to photograph! She is super photogenic and is at ease in front of the camera which makes my job easy. I couldn't be happier with how the pictures turned out and I'm thrilled to finally be publishing this post!!

Hannah, enjoy your pictures! I hope you have a wonderful senior year. :)

Blog Highlight

I'm always excited when someone asks me if they can highlight my blog on theirs. It doesn't happen too often so when it does, I feel special. Lauren asked me a couple days ago if she could do just that and after sending an email back with some random facts about myself, the post was up! You can view that post here!

And because she asked, I'll tell you a little about the armed robbery. Actually, I'll share one of my English papers with you. Haha! I'm being bold here so don't judge. This is the unedited paper so it's definitely not that fantastic but I hope you enjoy. :) Hope everyone in Virginia is enjoying this cooler, fall weather, as well! I know I am.

Ryan + Emmy | Waynesboro, Virginia Portrait Photographer

There was a high chance of rain on Friday and the clouds started rolling in not long before I was supposed to take pictures of Ryan and Emmy. I kept texting Ryan updating him on whether I thought we should shoot early or just cancel and was left just hoping maybe it wouldn't rain. We decided to try to do the pictures a couple hours earlier than I had planned and by the time we got to the location, the sun had come out and the clouds were gone. When that happens, I know it's going to be a good day.

Ryan and Emmy are a wonderful couple and because they are both heading off to different colleges in about a week, they thought it would be a great idea to get some portraits. I usually sadly refuse to do portraits of people who aren't engaged but Ryan's family has seriously hired me for numerous things and I feel like they've all supported my little business in some way, whether it's been through dance for their daughter or senior pictures or whatever and I'm so thankful for that so obviously, I gave in!

We had a great hour shooting in the very back of my neighborhood (who knew it was pretty?!) and I'm so glad I was able to use my new camera for the first time on an actual session! So thank you, Emmy and Ryan! I hope you guys enjoy these pictures! Good luck at college!
