Spring Break Has Begun

It's been a good day. Today is the start of my spring break and I couldn't be more thrilled. I'm ready to catch up on sleep, do something fun, and hopefully travel a bit.

Something fun I'm hoping to do over this nice, long break is to take some pictures of people. I miss portrait photography. A lot. And I feel like it's about time to get back into it. I hate that photography has seasons. Seasons where you shoot a lot, seasons where you don't, and seasons where you take a break. I've been through them all but since I love portraits, I'm longing for some pretty light and some new photos. I hope to steal a friend for the day and go somewhere beautiful. Hopefully I'll hold myself accountable for that.

And after realizing that a photoshoot needed to be added to my to-do list, I took a break from my computer, which I always seem to be on, and went outside with my mom. She was transplanting some flowers so I went out with my camera. It's been one of those beautiful days where it's cloudy almost all day but then randomly, the clouds part for the sun and I wanted to take advantage of that.

I hope everyone has had a lovely week! And also, if you have any questions for me, I'd LOVE to answer them on Formspring. :)

  1. I wish you lived closer, 'cause if you did, we'd totally be working on photography together. I'm in a bit of a rut lately, and I feel like shooting portraits will help me out of it. But, alas, I have nobody to shoot... If only. :3

  2. Say, Mere! I know what´s in your bag, so which one of your lenses you use for these garden pictures? They are always lovely! And, one more question: I have a 50 1.2 lense, but this is the only one, I am about to buy a new one but I don´t know which one to get, and I am between the macro 100 or another cheap zoom lense. Whisvh one would you buy if you had only 1 thousand dlls? I am currently taking weddings and using my 50 for the entire event! :p :D Please, help! Thank´s in advance, sweetie!

    1. For these pictures, I used my 50mm 1.4! :) And if I had to choose between a macro and a zoom lens for weddings, I'd definitely pick a zoom, especially if I already had the 1.2!

Here are two suggestions. I haven't used any of these so I don't know which would be best but I do know they are great lenses! The 70-200mm is three hundred dollars more than what you're looking for but it's soooo worth it! Every wedding photog needs it. :) The other one (24-105mm) may not do well indoors unless you have lots of light but it is under $1000. Hope that helps! The links are below! And the last link is another 70-200mm telephoto for less money. It just doesn't have as wide of an aperture.
