I Heart Faces: Anything But a Face

Okay, so I just wrote a whole blog post thinking the I Heart Faces theme this week meant to include a picture without any sort of person in it at all. Then I went to check the directions to make sure I was right and I was wrong. Haha. Good thing I checked. I had picked a picture of a snowflake but the theme of Anything But a Face actually meant to have a part of the body besides a face in your picture. Ooooops. So, now I'm redoing this post and doing it correctly.

I couldn't think of many great pictures I had of a hand or shoes or anything, but then I remembered all the TOMS pictures I had of me wearing them! WINNER. So I picked one of those! I loooove these pictures! Especially with the light reflecting off the glitter.

Instagram

I've mentioned this before, but Instagram is a really neat app for the iPhone. You use it to take pictures and it allows you to put cool filters on the pictures. I use it daily and appreciate it so much. On days when I don't have my camera, Instagram takes my iPhone pictures and organizes them easily so that people can comment on them, share them, etc. It's a lot of fun. I did a post a while ago sharing my first few Instagram photos but now I have quite a stash and I wanted to post them. I worked hard on this little collage in Photoshop, too. I'm still learning so it took me quite a while. And sadly, by quite a while, I really mean three hours.... Haha. But here are some Instagram pictures from the past few months.

Joyful Saturday

I got to sleep in this morning and it was just what I needed. I got up, took a shower, picked out an outfit, and have been sitting in my bed watching the Vampire Diaries ever since. I guess it's fair to say I've been enjoying my Saturday. =D.

But anyway, I knew if I didn't get my Sketchbook done today, I probably wouldn't do it. It's due Monday and I just haven't been motivated lately. Soooo, I pushed myself out the door with my camera, my remote, and my tripod. I had a picture in mind and decided I'd be in this one. The theme is Whisper, so I thought I'd put my finger over my lip like I was whispering "Shhhh." I had so much fun with this little project. More fun than I thought I would. =D. And this is how my favorites turned out.

P.S. Please forgive me and my hair..... I need a haircut. And my hair is having a bad day.

Sketchbook: Calmed Mind + Stuck + Woe Is Me

If I've learned one thing about myself, it's that I get distracted so easily. Wow. Not such a great thing for me. I was just typing up my History notes and told myself I'd start studying for my quiz tomorrow. And then......... I'm on Facebook. And then I'm checking blogs. And then I realize I haven't blogged in about a week. And then I start blogging...... And then I get up to take pictures for my blog. Sad day. I need to work on that. But oh well. All I really care about right now is getting through tonight and tomorrow. This week has been annoyingly long because I've been sick with a cold. Yay for getting sick because of school and other sickly children. And might I add that I also blame getting sick on our school because they don't have soap in the bathrooms.....

But anywho, I'm getting way off track. The real reason for this blog is to post some Sketchbook pictures. I haven't posted any pictures in a while so I thought I'd do that. =D. Here are some of the new themes. Next week's theme is Whisper. I'm still coming up with something for that one. If you have any good ideas, let meh know.

Downtown Charlottesville

When I get to go somewhere new and exciting to take pictures, my life lights up. Especially when I haven't gotten to take pictures in so long.

My aunt is visiting so today, my aunt, my mom, and I went to the downtown Charlottesville mall and just walked around for five hours. Mom and I helped my aunt pick out some gorgeous outfits while I was green with envy because I couldn't buy anything. BUHHH. I need money. I legitimately want some Frye boots. FORREAL. Hampton, if you see this, you have inspired me. Everywhere I go now, I see freaking beautiful Frye boots. I want some, I want some, I want some. Hahaha!!

But while I was in Charlottesville with my camera of course, I realized how excited I get about photography. And how happy it makes me. That's so completely lame but today on the way there, we were riding around Charlottesville, and I'd get this annoying urge to roll down my window going 45 MPH and take a picture of something I thought was cool. That's when you know you have problems........ Haha. I told myself that was weird and held back.

But pahlease, my strange urge to take pictures of everything did not get in my way while we walked around the mall. Seriously, I'm pretty sure people were worried about me. I took pictures in stores...... Of clothes...... And vases...... And plates...... And light fixtures...... And shoes....... Haha! I am trying to get over that fear I have of being awkward and being scared that people will yell at me for taking pictures. It has happened before. =(. And even though these aren't really opportunities for great pictures, I was just practicing. No one yelled. =D. And I had so much fun! Take a look at all these random photos. And feel free to laugh with me. Orrrrr at me.

I cannot even express how badly I wanted and still want these shoes. They're only $213....
Not sure what this place is. Actually, I think it was out of business but I loved the sign. :).
Yep, this was the cutest puppy I have EVER seen. I took about twelve pictures of her.
Points for anyone who knows what this means. No translators.
This restaurant is amazing. Go there. Right now.

Yearbook Staff

As I've said numerous times on this blog, I'm in a Photojournalism class at school, otherwise known as Yearbook. It's a lot of fun. There are times in the class when I get frustrated with getting pictures of people when they have early release or when I have to come up with cheesy captions for pictures, but other than that, I really do enjoy the class. We get to have lots of parties and obviously have a huge say in what the yearbook looks like. It's exciting.

Sometimes I even bring in my camera for random things. On Wednesday, I brought my camera in to take the Yearbook staff photo. Well, actually my friend Becca took it. And did a great job as always.

Anyway, I really just like sharing parts of my life on this blog. I also really like being on the blog. Hehe. That doesn't happen too often, but thanks to Becca for these awesome photos, I get to be on the blog today.

Say hello to the Yearbook staff! =D. These girls are awesome and I'm so lucky I know them!
