Twenty Things

Okay, so I wanted to post something today but I haven't taken many exciting pictures so I decided I would just do a "Twenty Things" post. I'm just going to list twenty things that you may or may not know about me. Haa. This should be good. The truth comes out...

1. I am obsessed with the colors lime green and turquoise, especially when they are together.

2. I have played trumpet for five years.

3. I have OCD... Seriously, I do. But I'm not really proud of it.

4. Both of my eyes are completely different prescriptions. One eye is farsighted and one is nearsighted.

5. I'm actually not very good at drawing. No scratch that. I'm terrible. I don't know how I managed to draw those drawings that I blogged about. I think it's just because I can design patterns. And unfortunately, that is all. Ask me to draw a person or an animal, and it actually makes me embarrassed. But I laugh anyway. =). Haha.

6. I knit and crochet. I used to do it all the time but I just don't really have the patience anymore I guess.

7. I really love electronics. HA. So weird...

8. In the winter and fall, I will wear a scarf everyday. HA. I say "I will" because I just got some awesome scarves. And I love them!!

9. Right now, I love to photograph people more than anything else, although nature comes in second. =).

10. I have two older brothers.

11. I either want to live on a farm or in a big city. No in between. Haha.

12. I have the most incredible friends in the world.

13. I think I have short-term memory loss. I might not but I seriously think I do. HA.

14. I will never own anything besides a Mac. =).

15. I am a huge coffee fan, but the sad part is that it makes me nauseated. =(. Usually I drink it anyways. Haaa.

16. I have braces for the second time. We can talk about that later. It makes me sad to think about it.

17. I'm a believer. A big believer. I love Jesus. =).

18. If I could visit any place in the world, it would probably be Hawaii. Or Cayman (again). Or New Zealand.

19. I can't make decisions. See above. Aha.

20. I've always wanted a horse. ALWAYS. And I plan to get one one day, even if it lives in my front yard. =D.

Photoshoot With Hampton | Lyndhurst, Virginia Portrait Photographer

Hampton!!! Woah. I don't even know where to start. But I shall try.

Hampton and I have been friends since we were three. She moved in beside me and it was honestly the best thing that could have happened. I know now that it was God's plan. We played together basically everyday and I wouldn't take back any of it. We were absolutely best friends from the day I met her.

But sadly, a few years later, she moved to Crozet. I really was devastated and I think I cried quite a few times. But hey, at least she didn't move out of state. Haha.

After she moved, we were still best friends. Nothing changed that and actually, nothing ever will. That's the cool part that I'm getting to.

I invited Hampton over a week or two ago for a sleepover tonight (yes, I'm blogging while she's here). I hadn't seen her in six months until today. And the second she walked in the door, I knew nothing had changed between us. Nothing ever changes. She's always the same ol' Hampton that I've known since I was three. Cool huh?

I am so blessed to know you, Hampton!!! Seriously. Thanks for being such an awesome, loving, trustworthy friend. You are the best!

And today, we went out to Sherando for the day!! It was SO fun!! And I told her she was getting a photoshoot. She doesn't like being in photos very much even though she's beautiful! But I told her this was more for me than it was for her and that she had to cooperate. And she eventually did. So, thanks for letting me take lots and lots of pictures of you, Ham. They all turned out beautifully, whether you think so or not.

Dreams

I should be getting my new 50mm 1.4 in the next few weeks!!! I'm so excited that I'm not sure I'll be able to wait for it to ship once I order it. HA. I really hope this lens helps me learn even more about my camera as well as helps me define my style.

But also, I have a confession. I feel like I lie on this blog all the time. Haha. I write that I'm probably going places, taking certain classes, getting things this summer, and redoing my room. HAHA. Well, most of those things aren't happening. Ahaa. Maybeeeee one day...

One thing you'll learn about me is that I love to dream. And as you can see, most of those things don't and won't happen. =(. But it's still fun, even though you get let down. Haha. I have basically planned out how I want my house when I'm older and apparently rich. Hahaha! But the likeliness of all of that is low. And it's okay!! Something you don't need in life to be happy is money. So, although that's how I would love it to be, it probably won't and I'm okay with it. Nooo worries.

P.S. The lens is happening!! I'm not lying about that. Unless someone robs my bank, I'm getting that lens!

And this is a house at Emerald Isle that I would NOT mind living in. =).

I Heart Faces: Celebrating Teens

Okay, I'm doing something a little different. There's this site called I Heart Faces and you can enter one of your pictures. There are different themes each week and this week the theme is Celebrating Teens. I decided I would enter! Or at least attempt. I've never ever done this before so I'm really excited! Why not give it a shot?

I had a hard time choosing which picture to pick because I've taken so many of my friends! Ahhh. But I finally decided on a picture of Alli. It's probably one of my favorites that I've ever taken. I don't know what it is. I think it's because there is emotion in the picture. Maybe it's posed emotion but still. I love it. =).

If you would like to enter, go to http://www.iheartfaces.com. =).

Chocolate Pie for Breakfast

Ummm... chocolate pie for breakfast is not a good idea. Especially right after you wake up. Haha.

Our air conditioning broke yesterday and it is SO hot here. I mean, outside it's about 90 degrees. And it's actually about 90 degrees in our house too. Sound nice? No? Yeah, I didn't think so.

So since our kitchen is upstairs, it's hotter in there and the rest of the upstairs rooms than it is downstairs. And of course, I had to get some breakfast. But because it was so hot, I didn't want to be in there for more than three minutes. Sooooo, I got the easiest thing: chocolate pie. And it wasn't the best idea. It sort of made me feel sick. Haha. So for future reference, don't eat pie for breakfast.

I took pictures of the pie before I consumed it. Hehe. It really is good pie. Just not in the morning. I bet these pictures will make you want some though. =).

Pretty Day for Taking Pictures

Today has really been a good day! I woke up this morning, looked at my phone and had a text that said something at the pool was broken and I didn't need to come to work because they were closing it! YES. Score. Love when stuff like that happens. Haha.

So, since I had the day off, I went outside and enjoyed the beautiful day (and still am enjoying it) and took pictures! Photography is the best thing ever. Well, I think it is. I can be in a bad mood and go outside to take pictures, and I'll come in feeling better. I think that's awesome. =). Everyone needs something like that.

I took pictures of some birds, some flowers, and my dog. =). My new favorite thing is to take pictures of birds. Haha. This time, my camera was fixed so it was a lot easier. I don't know what else I took pictures of. Haha. Maybe nothing. I can't remember. But enjoy these!! =). And have a good rest of the day! =).

Problem Solved

My camera came today!!! I'm so excited!! I didn't expect to get it back today at all. It's Saturday and I had no idea anything was delivered on Saturday. Also, I looked at the online Canon update for my camera and it said it hadn't even shipped yet. I'm okay with all of this though! Haha. The sheet that I got back telling me what was wrong said that there was a piece of grass inside the camera keeping it from auto focusing! Haha!! Craziness.

So, since I got it back, I had to take some flower pictures. I took a few pictures of some hydrangeas (my favorite flower)! I was so thrilled that I got my camera back today, not only because it's my camera of course, but because these flowers were about to die away for the year and it made me sad that I hadn't gotten to take pictures of them. So, luckily, I did today!!

Enjoy these pictures AND this beautiful day!! =D.

Camera Difficulties

So... I guess this can be good and/or bad news. For me, it's definitely both.

I sent my camera off yesterday to Newport News to the Canon warehouse to be fixed. Thankfully, it was still under warranty so I won't have to pay for the repairs! But unfortunately, I won't be blogging probably for about two weeks. It could be less than that but I have no idea. We'll see.

Anyway, I guess I'll keep you updated. If not, the next time I blog will be when I get my camera back!! Yay!

And hopefully I'll have my lens the next time I blog tooooooo!!!!! =).

Also, because a post isn't good without a picture, here's something really cute that we found at work last summer.

Visits to North Carolina

I got to take a little vacation this weekend!! It was good to get away. Haha. That may sound terrible but I love to travel, whether it's for a day or week. I just love to go different places. So it was really relaxing and awesome for me.

I was there to visit my grandpa
rents and to attend a family reunion in Raleigh. It was so good to see everyone at the reunion. Every person on my mom's side of the family is so nice. I mean, that's an understatement. They are incredible. And they are all so loving. It's really neat to get people together and spend time with those that you haven't seen in years. And that's what we did. It was a lot of fun!
We stayed two nights at my grandparents' house in Wilson, N.C. and that was really great too. They won't be around too much longer and it's always nice to get to visit them! They're the best. =).

While I was at their house, I took a lot of pictures! A couple are from the reunion and most are just pictures that I took outside or inside of my grandparents' house.

I had a sad experience happen right before I got there though. Unfortunately, my camera just randomly decid
ed to stop auto focusing. It's terrible!! I was sooo upset. I come to North Carolina, a place I never get to visit, and my camera breaks. Super. But luckily, I could still take pictures, I just had to manually focus ALL of them. Ughhhh. It was tough. Haha. But hopefully my little Rebel (he is a rebel... haha) will be fixed in the next week or two. I think we're going to have to send it off to Canon and hopefully it's still under warranty so we can get it fixed without having to pay...

But on the up side, on
e of the coolest things that I got to take pictures of while I was there was birds! My grandma has two bird feeders right outside her sunroom doors because she loves to watch them. I opened up the screen doors and got some really fun pictures of them! It was sooooo awesome! I really hope that you like those because they are definitely my favorites. And I did manually focus all of these. HAHA. So sad. I have no idea how I managed to manually focus moving birds.

Well, that is all. En
joy the pictures!! And I'll explain a few of them as I go.

This is probably the coolest thing ever. A lady that cleans my grandparents' house made this. I legit looked at it for about five minutes. I'm not kidding. She made it out of an old hymn book!! So creative!!! And to make it even better, she cut out and pasted my grandpa's favorite song on the top.

You wanna play hide and seek? Okay. Let's go.

Precious little dove. Oh, and notice the purple on his side? Haha!

One of my favorites for some odd reason.
